Summary: The Weill Cornell Medicine Department of Psychiatry is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Clinical Psychology Fellow to join the clinical team at the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain (CADB) for a two-year fellowship. Located at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health in White Plains, New York, CADB provides comprehensive, evidence-based assessment and treatment services for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related developmental conditions.

 

The fellowship is designed to provide advanced training in diagnostic assessment and evidence-based intervention for individuals with autism spectrum disorder across the lifespan and their families. Fellows will gain extensive clinical experience while working within a multidisciplinary team and serving a diverse patient population. The Fellow will participate in diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic interventions for individuals who have been diagnosed with, or are suspected of having, autism spectrum disorder. Clinical responsibilities include:

 

  • Psychological and multidisciplinary diagnostic assessments

  • Group-based interventions (e.g., PEERS®, Secret Agent Society, Girls Night Out)

  • Individual and family psychotherapy

  • Collaboration with families, schools, and interdisciplinary providers

 

Additional training opportunities include specialization in gold-standard autism diagnostic instruments, including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2), as well as a range of empirically supported intervention approaches. Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in the CADB Early Intervention Program, which includes delivery of naturalistic developmental behavioral interventions in a preschool classroom setting and parent coaching using the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM). Depending on interest, fellows may participate in the CADB Positive Behavioral Support (PBS) team, a multidisciplinary consultation service for autistic patients in inpatient psychiatric units on campus. Fellows will have opportunities to supervise psychology technicians and graduate student trainees. Opportunities may be available to participate in research projects led by CADB faculty.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in autism assessment, including experience with the ADOS-2, and familiarity with evidence-based intervention approaches for individuals with ASD and their families. The fellow will be expected to work well with families and effectively collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA-accredited program and possess or be eligible for a NY state limited permit, minus the supervision hours.  

 

Compensation and Benefits:

·         Minimum/Maximum Stipend: $63,000

·         Benefits: Competitive benefits package including vacation.

 

Start Date: September 1st, 2027 (contingent upon obtaining NYS limited permit)

 

Fellowship Duration: Two years
