 The UCSD Autism Center is a state-of-the-art multimodal autism research facility. The Center applies psychometric testing, MRI/fMRI, DNA/RNA analysis, eye tracking and multiple other paradigms to the study of autism throughout the lifespan but has a particular emphasis on the infancy and early childhood periods. The Autism Center is part of the UCSD School of Medicine and offers a rich interdisciplinary environment.

 Under general direction of the Principal Investigator, serve as Research Psychologist for two NIH funded studies on bio behavioral markers for infants at-risk for autism and outcome markers at school age. Position requires a full individual with a Doctorate in psychology or related field who will perform the diagnosis and psychometric testing of children and adults with autism as well as psychometric testing of normal control subjects, approximately 8-10 testing sessions per week. The full-time position may additionally involve conducting research experiments related to the study and participation in research protocol development for various projects. In collaboration with other senior staff, the Research Psychologist will assist in develop new diagnostic methods and new behavioral assessments and characterization methods aimed at elucidating the behavioral phenotype in toddlers with autism. The incumbent may also assist in the development of new methods for identification and recruitment of infants and toddlers with ASD.

 Other duties involve supervising the activities of Ph.D. students or non-licensed psychologists working towards their clinical licensure. The applicant must have at least 3-years clinical experience with children who present with Autism Spectrum Disorders, including experience with assessments and writing reports. Incumbent will also work well with research staff and families of children who are developing typically and those with possible Autism Spectrum Disorders. The Incumbent will be involved in preparing manuscripts including summarizing data and assisting with reports to the funding agency. Preferred qualifications include: clinical experience with children with autism as well as typically developing children (can be in the area of treatment); knowledge and experience with diagnosing autism using research tools such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule; experience in IQ and developmental testing using tools such as the Mullen Scales of Early Learning and WASI. Bilingual (English/Spanish) not required but a plus.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• A Ph.D. Degree in Clinical Psychology and at least three (3) years experience in clinical psychology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Current license as a Clinical Psychologist in the state of California.

• Proven ability to develop scientific documents from collected data and present findings at scientific and educational venues.

• Demonstrated supervisory experience with students and/or other psychologists.

• Thorough knowledge of basic psychological science.

• Demonstrated experience in experimental design and statistics.

• Thorough knowledge of psychodiagnostic procedures and tests, including ADI-R, ADOS, and Mullen Scales of Early Learning.

• Proven theoretical and experiential knowledge of autism.

• Experience in research setting, particularly working with children and adults with autism, and presenting to groups.

• Knowledge of current laws, procedures and ethical principles that govern the practice of psychology, including services suggested or information disclosed by telephone.

• Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills that facilitate professional, effective, and courteous interaction with a diverse population. Experience to communicate findings, recommendations, referrals, and general information clearly and effectively to multidisciplinary research teams.

• Proficient experience with operation of PC using word processing and database programs, a variety of web-based programs, internet and email. Ability to maintain databases, perform standard computer tasks, and learn new programs/applications with minimal direction.

• Proven skill in problem solving and critical thinking. Strong ability to think creatively and efficiently, and to assess and analyze problems. Participate and contribute to discussions regarding procedures and goals of the unit.

• Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with a diverse population, including parents of children with special disabilities and the children themselves. Ability to work independently or in a team framework in conjunction with the Principles of Community.

• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bilingual in English and Spanish with demonstrated experience to interview, perform psychological assessment and psychodiagnoses, and plan and implement a variety of case dispositions in Spanish.

The Arbor Autism Center is recruiting for a part-time or full-time clinical child psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) to be part of a growing practice in the bay area dedicated to meeting the needs of children and adolescents with autism and their families. 

This position will focus primarily on intervention services, providing evidence-based psychotherapy to school-age and adolescents with high functioning autism and co-occurring mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, emotion dysregulation, behavior challenges, parental challenges and other presenting problems. Further, psychotherapy practices will include primarily short-term, modified, individual cognitive behavior therapy, in addition to other modalities. Opportunities for other therapy formats, such as group therapy, may present. 

Required Qualifications: 

All candidates should have a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) and clinical internship from an APA/CPA accredited program in Clinical Psychology with specialty training in autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities as well as children/adolescents. Candidates should also have formal postdoctoral training in these aforementioned areas and be knowledgeable about standards of care for ASD, particularly evidence-based interventions. University of Washington: Clinical Research Fellowship in Autism Spectrum Disorder

In this two-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical psychology, fellows spend 100% time contributing to research projects related to autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The Research in Autism in the Brain Lab (RAB Lab) at the University of Washington has been actively involved in autism research for many years, with a focus on etiology, neuroscience, and behavior. Founded by Raphael Bernier, PhD, our research team includes principal investigators and staff from the University of Washington and Seattle Children's Hospital.

Training activities may focus on:

1. Contributing leadership for research projects investigating the neurobiology, development, and treatment of ASD from early childhood to adulthood;

2. Administering and scoring cognitive, neuropsychological, and diagnostic assessments for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as part of clinical research protocols;

3. Supervising and training students and staff on the administration and scoring of these measures;

4. Writing research diagnostic reports and providing feedback to families;

5. Learning to administer and analyze EEG, eye tracking, and fMRI paradigms, if interested; and

6. Participating and assisting in all aspects of the research process including collecting and analyzing data, presenting results, authoring papers, and assisting in grant writing.

Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking candidates for a two-year postdoctoral research fellowship beginning July, 2020 and based at the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain (CADB). CADB is a state-of-the art clinical and research program and a collaborative program of NewYork-Presbyterian, Weill Cornell Medicine, and Columbia Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and in partnership with NEXT for Autism.  CADB is located on the campus of New York-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health Center in White Plains, New York. The Center provides comprehensive assessment and clinical services for hundreds of patients annually.

The Research Postdoctoral Fellow will work under the supervision and mentorship of Dr. So Hyun “Sophy” Kim, to support NIH-funded projects examining early behavioral features and trajectories of with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and an EEG/ERP study examining neural correlates of executive function and school readiness in children ASD at CADB’s ASD & Developmental Science Lab (PI: Kim). Responsibilities will include data collection, preparation of manuscripts and grant applications, and training research assistants. The Fellow will be ideally leading our efforts to analyze EEG/ERP data; therefore, previous experiences with EEG/ERP data analyses are preferred. The Fellow will have opportunities for clinical training under the supervision of licensed clinicians.

 The ideal candidate will be interested in pursuing an academic career as a clinical researcher. To support career development in research, the Fellow will receive protected research time and grant-writing mentorship. The Fellow will have an option to accrue clinical hours for their New York State Psychology license by delivering interventions (e.g., naturalistic developmental behavioral interventions in preschool classroom setting) and/or diagnostic and developmental assessments.

The Riley Child Development Center (RCDC) Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental

Disabilities (LEND) program is currently accepting applications for a psychology postdoctoral

fellowship position for the 2021-2022 academic year with a focus on clinical research in autism

spectrum disorder (ASD). This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to be part of a vibrant crossinstitution

research team as well as to gain clinical and research experience in assessment of

toddlers at risk for ASD.

The RCDC LEND has been situated in the Department of Pediatrics in the Indiana University

School of Medicine (IUSM) since 1970. The Department of Pediatrics is home to several research

centers, boasts an outstanding reputation in clinical, basic science and translational research,

and is consistently among the top five to ten percent of National Institutes of Health pediatric

funding recipients nationally. The mission of the RCDC LEND is to provide an interdisciplinary

The psychology postdoctoral fellow will work with faculty in the RCDC LEND to develop a tailored

training plan that incorporates the following clinical and research experiences:

• Participation in clinical research evaluations of toddlers at-risk for ASD in the primary care

setting. The fellow will obtain research reliability in use of the ADOS-2, as well as gain

significant experience with developmental evaluation and clinical interviewing. Evaluations

are conducted as part of an NIH-funded project (Dr. Becca McNally, IUSM; Dr. Brandon

Keehn, Purdue University) focused on investigating an innovative model of early ASD

diagnosis that links community-based clinical evaluation with the assessment of

biobehavioral markers in the primary care setting.

• Participation in training of primary care clinicians in assessment and diagnosis of ASD as

part of an ongoing statewide network and learning collaborative focused on lowering the

age of ASD diagnosis. As part of this experience, the postdoctoral fellow will obtain

experience in quality improvement science (Dr. Mary Ciccarelli & Dr. Becca McNally,

IUSM).

• Participation in RCDC’s LEND interdisciplinary assessment and diagnostic clinics. A

primary focus is differential diagnosis of ASD in toddlers through transition-aged young

adults. Fellows acquire significant experience in clinical interviewing as well as

administration, scoring, and interpretation of ADOS-2 and cognitive and adaptive

assessments. Some clinics include working with an interdisciplinary team with a

speech/language fellow, social workers, nutritionists, dental residents, and a

developmental pediatrician. Other opportunities may include conducting early intervention

• Engagement in clinical research with the expectation to develop an individual research

project resulting in a poster presentation and/or publication. Formal research training and

mentorship in project development/implementation, data collection and analysis, and

• Didactic and discussion-based group learning opportunities are offered weekly. In addition

to department and division-wide grand rounds and journal club, fellows participate in the

LEND didactic seminar with the interdisciplinary LEND cohort. The LEND seminars

cultural competency. practices, and the creation of community support programs.

• Psychology post-doctoral fellows receive supervision from licensed psychologists within

the Division of Child Development. Each fellow has a primary supervisor with whom they

meet weekly to discuss cases, professional development, and other administrative and/or

supervisory issues. Additionally, each clinic (and research clinic) has a primary

psychologist who provides live supervision throughout that day.

1. Doctorate in psychology (clinical or school psychology) from an APA-accredited program

The department is a decidedly behavioral group of clinical educators and clinical researchers who seek to incorporate training and research activities into clinical service delivery, including in traditional center-based behavioral health clinics, in integrated primary care settings, and in integrated school-based clinics and consultation services. Clinical activities center on delivery of assessment and treatment behavioral health services to neurotypical children, adolescents and families with behavioral health needs as well as individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Experience with behavioral parent training is highly desired.

All faculty members at MMI play an important role in education and provide clinical supervision for postdoctoral fellows and for interns from the APA accredited Nebraska Internship Consortium. Some faculty also teach courses in our ABA doctoral program while others teach and supervise practica for our master degree program which prepares graduates for both licensure in Nebraska and certification as BCBA. POSITION SUMMARY

The NYU Langone Health Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, an academic clinical center specializing in treatment of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders, is recruiting for a one-year post-doctoral fellowship in the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Program. This position provides advanced training in assessment and treatment of individuals with ASD, related developmental disorders, and co-occurring disorders from early childhood through adulthood. Thus, familiarity with ASD diagnostic instruments is preferred but not required. Additionally, experience administering standardized developmental, language, and cognitive assessments is preferred. In addition, the fellow will be trained in evidence-based treatment approaches to ASD intervention and behavioral parent training, as well as treatment for comorbid conditions such as depression, anxiety, and OCD. The fellow will serve as a group leader in our PEERS® Program, which offers evidence-based social skills groups for adolescents and young adults. Additionally, there will be opportunities to provide teaching and training to pre-doctoral psychology trainees, as well as opportunities to give talks to local community agencies. The fellowship is designed to begin in Summer 2021.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has brought changes to our clinical and training experiences, most of our offerings have continued virtually throughout the pandemic, such as evaluations, parent, family, and individual sessions, and social skills groups. We will keep applicants apprised of opportunities as circumstances change. Fellows may have the opportunity to be trained in the administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule™, Second Edition (ADOS™-2), if requirements for PPE use are relaxed during the fellowship.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Training in diagnostic assessment of ASD and associated psychopathology

Training in conducting diagnostic intake interviews for a range of presenting psychiatric concerns

Training in treatment approaches specific to autism (e.g. RUBI, PEERS®), as well as therapies targeting psychopathology often associated with ASD (e.g., Exposure and Response Prevention, Cognitive Behavior Therapy)

Developing mastery in writing comprehensive reports and designing treatment plans

Community presentations to audiences of professionals, parents, and/or consumers

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS)

This position requires completion of an APA-approved internship and a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program. The candidate cannot begin their fellowship until a NY State limited permit has been obtained.

NORMAL WORKING HOURS AND CONDITIONS

Occasional overtime as required and approved. Telemedicine will be used for clinical appointments and supervision as needed.

Autism Program Director - Oregon Health & Science University

The Institute on Development and Disability (IDD) within the Department of Pediatrics at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) invites applications from clinical scientists to serve as the Autism Program Director.

Duties of Position: The successful candidate will be a leader in clinical research initiatives by establishing a line of clinical research and supporting scholarly activities related to autism and associated conditions through collaboration with others. To promote critical linkage between clinical and research endeavors, the incoming director will provide patient care through the program’s clinical arm. Further, the successful candidate will support advocacy and statewide initiatives. Time devoted to each activity to be negotiated.

Qualifications: We are seeking a professional with a strong clinical research emphasis, proven track record of securing extramural funding, excellent clinical skills, and demonstrated leadership. As such, candidates at the Associate Professor level may be most competitive. This position is open to individuals with doctoral degrees of various professional backgrounds (e.g., psychology, speech-language pathology, developmental pediatrics). Must be licensed in Oregon or license-eligible and able to attain privileges at OHSU.

About The Program: The IDD Autism Program incorporates service, scholarship, and teaching consistent with OHSU’s mixed missions. A referral center for the region, the program provides over 500 multidisciplinary assessments annually for individuals referred with the question of autism spectrum disorder, in addition to treatment and consultation services. The clinic population is diverse (e.g., ~20% of families being of non-white race, 20% being of Latino ethnicity, majority using public insurance). Clinical education and scholarship are well integrated into the program. Finally, advocacy and community partnership are important components of the program (e.g., Camp Odakoda ASD summer camps, Autism Society of Oregon Welcome Project).

An Environment for Success: The new director will join a rich and exciting environment that supports academic success. OHSU is home to nationally and internationally recognized leaders in autism and related research; strengths exist in neuroscience, genetics, epidemiology, and computational linguistics. A multitude of institutional resources exists to support innovative research (e.g., OHSU Brain Institute, Oregon National Primate Research Center, Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute). There is a long history of successful collaborative research projects and involvement in large national projects (e.g., Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative, SPARK). Notably, research relationships are well formed across the Departments of Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Molecular and Medical Genetics, and Behavioral Neuroscience. To maximize collaboration, OHSU is currently developing an Autism Center structure to accelerate collaborative research. The Department of Pediatrics is fully committed to autism-focused research, incorporating this endeavor into its 10-year strategic plan.  OHSU is making strategic investments in neuroscience and cross-discipline, collaborative research. These are just some of the resources available to ensure success of the new director.
