The UC Davis MIND Institute announces the availability of one full-time NIH-funded post-doctoral position, primarily within the Translational Psychophysiology and Assessment Laboratory (T-PAL), under the direction of Professor David Hessl. T-PAL is focused on assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders, with current emphasis on fragile X and Down syndromes, autism spectrum disorder, and intellectual disabilities broadly defined. Dr. Hessl also co-directs a longitudinal study focused on trajectories and markers of neurodegeneration in adult carriers of the fragile X premutation, a group at risk for development of a progressive neuro-motor disease, fragile X-associated tremor ataxia syndrome (FXTAS).

The Child Development Center is one of the most comprehensive and largest neurodevelopmental psychology departments in the country and is part of one of the largest Pediatric Behavioral Health units. Position Description:
The Waisman Center's Clinical Translational Core (CTC) addresses the challenges facing scientists who conduct behavioral and bio-behavioral research on special populations such as individuals with autism, fragile X syndrome (FXS), and Down syndrome (DS). In addition, research programs examine issues such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and stress/trauma related disorders, as well as children at other forms of developmental risk.

The CTC psychologist will 1) provide leadership for the psychological services delivered through the CTC, and 2) provide direct clinical services for the Waisman Center Developmental Disabilities Clinic.

The psychologist is responsible for conducting, coordinating and leading behavioral assessments, diagnostic assessments, design of experiments, and psychological consultation through the CTC and will assist investigators in dealing with research problems. The psychologist will also lead and participate in interdisciplinary assessments for children and adolescents with stress-related disorders, family dysfunction, developmental disabilities (especially autism spectrum disorder), genetic disorders (e.g. FXS and DS), and challenging behavioral issues.

Weill Cornell Medical College’s Department of Psychiatry is seeking one full-time Post-doctoral Fellow to join the clinical team for 2 years at the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain (CADB) at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Westchester Division in White Plains, New York. The overall emphasis of the fellowship is to train clinical psychologists to provide innovative assessments and efficacious therapeutic interventions to individuals with autism and their families. 

The Fellow will be expected to actively participate in diagnostic assessment and/or implementation of interventions for individuals (all ages) diagnosed or suspected of having an Autism Spectrum Disorder. The position entails the provision of direct clinical services which will include psychological and multidisciplinary assessments, individual and family therapy sessions, school visits, and group based interventions. The Fellow will have the opportunity to receive additional training and specialization in diagnostic instruments (including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) and the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R)) and empirically-validated interventions. The Fellow will also have the opportunity to participate in the CADB Early Intervention program, which includes the delivery of naturalistic behavioral interventions in a preschool classroom setting and individual parent coaching sessions with families using the Early Start Denver Model. The Fellow will also be expected to work well with families and collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorders, including the use of the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, and the application of evidenced-based intervention approaches.

Post-doctoral fellows are sought to be part of a clinical research team focused on developmental and behavioral assessments for the purpose of phenotyping children, adolescents and adults with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability and a variety of other neurodevelopmental disorders studies at NIH. The Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Phenotyping Service engages in studies on neurodevelopmental disorders, and conducts assessments for collaborative protocols including natural history studies and treatment trials. The fellow will be part of the clinical team and will receive training on a variety of neuropsychological and developmental assessments. Fellows are also encouraged to design their own research investigations, including collaborative studies with scientists inside and outside of NIMH, and are also encouraged to engage in data analysis and manuscript preparation using a data already acquired.

Description: We seek an individual with a specialty in any area of clinical psychology to teach doctoral coursework, supervise doctoral student research, and provide clinical consultation and supervision.

Responsibilities: Major responsibilities include graduate-level teaching in the clinical psychology Ph.D. curriculum, establishing and maintaining an active program of research, seeking intramural and/or extramural research funding, mentoring and supervising doctoral level students in research and clinical activities, and taking on administrative assignments and service within the department, school, and university.
